As ABC7 Los Angeles reported, a planned construction project on the eastbound 91 Freeway reduced traffic to three lanes between the 241 and Green River Road this weekend. Caltrans initiated the 55-hour closure on Friday night to replace a water drainage culvert near Corona.

Drivers faced serious delays starting Saturday evening, with some reporting hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic as congestion spilled onto neighborhood surface streets. Christian Evans of Eastvale told ABC7 Los Angeles that paying for the FasTrak express lane while being unable to use the freeway is "a shame." Jetino Marks from Corona described the situation to the outlet as aggravating because alternate routes were limited.

Caltrans recommended motorists use the 57 Freeway to the 60 or Carbon Canyon. The restrictions are scheduled to lift at 5 a.m. Monday, but the same construction work and lane reductions will return next weekend.
