The Alpha League will see a notable contest this Friday as Edison High School, with a 2-4 overall record and 0-1 in league play, hosts San Juan Hills, currently 5-1 overall and 1-0 in league. The Chargers have been a football powerhouse for decades, securing a CIF-SS title in 2024, though last year's team finished 7-6 and lost all three league contests. San Juan Hills, a relatively new school, is also looking to improve upon a 2-10 record (1-4 in league) from last year, having shown strong past performances with records like 10-2 in 2024 and 11-2 in 2023.
San Juan Hills is led by quarterback Eiler King, who threw for 507 yards in the team’s 61-10 win over Los Alamitos. The Stallions' top receiver is Like Firth, who has recorded 11 touchdowns so far in 2026. For Edison, quarterback Sam Thomson has thrown for eight scores, and Brett Dempson is the top rusher, averaging 53.2 yards per game.
Another interesting matchup on Friday night features Westminster High School (5-1 overall, 1-0 in Lamda League) hosting Sonora (5-1 overall, 0-1 in league). The Lions come into the game on a five-game winning streak after a 14-12 win over Valencia last week, following an opening loss to Sunny Hills by a score of 20-13. The Raiders, meanwhile, sustained their first loss of the season on Oct. 2, falling 20-14 to Fountain Valley.
Additionally, Huntington Beach High School (6-0 overall, 1-0 in Delta League) is set for a Delta League showdown at Dana Hills (6-0 overall, 1-0 in league). Marina High School, with an overall record of 3-3, recently secured a win over Northwood where Nathan Kirk caught a touchdown pass.
