Orange County educators seeking to enhance support for multilingual students and foster more engaging classroom environments will have opportunities this fall to explore new teaching approaches. Project GLAD®, which utilizes research-based teaching strategies, is set to offer two distinct training series designed to help educators develop language skills across various academic subjects. The upcoming programs aim to provide practical strategies that can be directly applied in classrooms.
One of the offerings is the Project GLAD® Secondary Foundations Training, specifically tailored for middle and high school settings. This series includes separate sessions for educators and Project GLAD® agency trainers.
Educator sessions for this training will cover two modules. Module 3, focusing on Small Group Scaffolding, is scheduled for October 13-14. Module 4, which delves into Academic Discourse, will take place on February 9-10, 2027, in Orange County. Each of these modules is priced at $800 per participant. These sessions are intended to equip educators with methods for language development while creating collaborative learning opportunities for students. Upon completion, participants are expected to integrate the learned strategies into their own classrooms.
For Project GLAD® agency trainers, extended versions of these modules will be available. The Module 3 agency trainer session will run from October 12-15, while Module 4 for agency trainers is set for February 8-11, 2027. These sessions will cover the same core modules but include additional training on how agency trainers can effectively teach and coach other educators in utilizing these strategies within their respective school sites. For educators desiring a more comprehensive experience, the Project GLAD® Foundations Training will also be available, offered in collaboration with Cal State Fullerton. This six-day program is structured to provide a deep dive into the Project GLAD® approach.
The training commences with a two-day Research and Theory workshop, scheduled for October 23-24 at Cal State Fullerton. During this initial phase, participants will examine the research underpinning the Project GLAD® model and understand how it informs the program's development, planning, and support mechanisms.
Following this, the training will continue with a four-day classroom demonstration from November 16-19. Participants will observe Project GLAD® Agency Trainers actively working with students, gaining firsthand insight into how the strategies promote both language development and student engagement. This segment also includes opportunities for participants to create classroom-ready charts and digital resources for immediate application. The full six-day Project GLAD® Foundations Training costs $2,700 per person, a fee that includes lunch.
