Iteris Inc. is in the process of relocating its Santa Ana operations to two distinct locations in Irvine. The company plans to establish a new executive office within the Boardwalk office complex on Jamboree Road, which will serve to coordinate with its global teams. Concurrently, its manufacturing and product development unit will move into an approximate 65,000-square-foot facility situated on Waterworks Way.

While Iteris’ corporate headquarters will remain in Austin, Texas, the Boardwalk office complex will also house the North American headquarters for Almaviva, the Italian company that acquired Iteris in 2024.

Iteris informed the Business Journal that the new executive office is designed to accommodate approximately 30 people, including senior management and employees who support various administrative functions. The company expects to complete this relocation by early in the second half of 2027.

A company spokesperson stated that the move reflects Iteris’ "continued commitment to Orange County" and its expectations for future growth within the region.

Iteris specializes in cloud-enabled systems that assist public transportation agencies, municipalities, commercial entities, and other transportation infrastructure providers. These systems are used to monitor, visualize, and optimize mobility infrastructure, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in transportation. The company utilizes advanced detection sensors, mobility and traffic data, software-as-a-service offerings, and provides consulting services.

According to the Business Journal’s 2026 rankings, Iteris was identified as the ninth-largest telecommunications and wireless company in Orange County. The company has recently highlighted several initiatives, including the use of its ClearGuide dash cam imagery to track highways in North Carolina, in partnership with Vizzion’s Drives, as stated in September. In July, the company noted that its Moova program, provided by parent company Almaviva, is being utilized by U.S. transit agencies to ensure smooth movement of passengers and vehicles. Additionally, in May, Iteris launched Vantage Node, which it described as a compact, AI-powered intersection detection solution. This solution is designed to deliver high-performance vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle detection particularly at smaller, underserved, and less complex intersections.

Currently, Santa Ana hosts Iteris’ largest concentration of employees, with approximately 110 people based there. The spokesperson confirmed that these operations are being relocated to the new, approximately 65,000-square-foot expansion facility on Waterworks Way in Irvine. This facility will house industrial operations, product development, and the company’s California-based consulting services team.

These investments, encompassing both the new corporate executive office at the Boardwalk complex and the Waterworks Way facility, are expected to maintain Iteris’ significant presence in Orange County and provide the necessary space to support its future growth.

Several other firms in Orange County also provide traffic improvement systems. Other Southern California companies involved in providing traffic flow and vehicle tracking systems include Carlsbad-based CalAmp and Advantage Automotive Analytics of Irvine.
