After moving further south in Orange County, their visits ceased for about 30 years.
A recent return visit, prompted by a birthday gift card, found the restaurant still bustling on a Sunday evening around 7 p.m. The family, including their daughter, aimed to see if the establishment still maintained its earlier appeal.
The dining experience offered a mix of well-received dishes. The daughter's order, the Carolina’s Trio, was described on the restaurant’s website as "a generous combination platter" featuring homemade beef lasagna, cheese ravioli, and creamy fettuccine Alfredo; it was reportedly well-enjoyed. The cheese tortellini, chosen by another family member, was found to be creamy and satisfying, with leftovers being consumed the following evening. Shared appetizers included excellent garlic knots and a Caprese salad.
One diner's New York steak, ordered medium rare, arrived medium well and was described as tough, which was particularly noted given its $32.99 cost. However, the steak included an enormous side of spaghetti and meatballs. Carolina's meatballs, made in-house, were highlighted as delicious.
The service at Carolina’s was described as exemplary, provided by two attentive servers who ensured water glasses remained full and all needs were met. The restaurant's ambiance is characterized as "old school Italian," creating a suitable setting for its menu of comfort food.
