A recent social media post on October 18, 2026, detailed an incident in Long Beach involving U.S. citizens and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, bringing attention to public safety concerns during an operation designated 'Operation Safe California.' The post described a chaotic scene near the intersection of East 56th Street and Elm Avenue, claiming that an individual riding an e-bike, identified as a U.S. citizen, was struck by an unmarked car.
According to the post, after being hit, the individual was reportedly tased twice and pinned to the ground by agents. His arm was broken, and he was handcuffed behind his back without paramedics being called. The individual sustained additional injuries and was sent to the hospital in serious condition, where he is currently receiving treatment. The man's daughter was cited in the post, stating her father was hit on his e-bike by an unmarked car.
During the same incident, the post claimed another U.S. citizen was detained after yelling at agents from the sidewalk. The account further alleged that multiple ICE vehicles were observed running through stop signs and speeding the wrong way down one-way streets in a residential area, on a weekend afternoon when children were playing outside. A video documenting aspects of the events was shared to raise awareness, with credit given to “Stop ICE Net.”
These reported events unfolded in the context of 'Operation Safe California,' an ICE initiative that the social media post characterized as having declared “war on our state.” The operation is reportedly planned to last for 45 days and is timed to coincide with upcoming elections. The post speculated on the agency's potential reasons for scheduling the operation during the election period.
The same social media post also drew attention to a claim from a study titled 'No Tech For ICE,' which reported a significant increase in daily apprehensions. According to the study cited in the post, daily apprehensions of immigrants have increased eleven-fold compared to a year prior, when ICE raids in Los Angeles and Minneapolis received extensive news coverage. The post noted that this figure might already be outdated. In a discussion surrounding the post, a commenter highlighted that the individuals being apprehended were in the U.S. illegally, providing a different perspective on the term “immigrant neighbors” used in the initial report.
